FOUNDATIONS: TERRACE / KONNEKT
A hidden gem of glistening mid-90s electronica.
Friends.
It’s Friday, we’re relaying the foundations and this week I have an absolute belter for you.
Dutch maestro Stefan Robbers is probably best known for his Florence alias and the undeniable 1991 rave bomb Exploration:
This was the first release on the exceptional Eevo Lute Musique label that Robbers co-founded with Wladimir M, himself responsible for this all-time percy banger:
Make sure to dig into the respective back catalogues, they are absolute fire.
TERRACE / KONNEKT
Today I want to draw your attention to Robbers’ 1996 LP under his Terrace alias, Konnekt.
IMO this is one of the most underappreciated LPs of this classic era of electronic music. It should be an immediate go-to for fans of bright, optimistic, IDM-tinged rave tackle.
The rare occasion when every track is killer, all stylistic bases are covered and the album ties together perfectly as a singular artistic statement.
In a word, it is a masterpiece.

If I had to choose a couple of standouts, and I suppose I probably should, the glorious, bubbling sub bass and bitter-sweet synth lines of Facts is top of the list:
Closely followed by this ascendant beauty, primed for a beach party in South East Asia:
Til next time.
Peace and love.
